SIMON BELDON

Simon has ridden competitively for the last 30 years, representing different teams, and more recently with Team Bottrill.

He won many individual events over these years and has represented Great Britain Police

teams at events and stage races in the UK and abroad, most notably in Belgium, France and

Holland. Under Matt Bottrills personal coaching guidance, Simon has won around 40 races

in the last 4 seasons, including Time trials and road races, along with a number of podiums

in Cyclo cross and track. These wins were a major step change for Simon, allowing him to move from

top 10 finishes to winning races and being able to maintain his form for a whole season

instead of it disappearing in June! Matts techniques are now firmly embedded in Simon`s

coaching of other athletes.

Simon has level 3 coaching accreditation with the Association of British

Cycling Coaches. He also achieved British Cycling Level 2 accreditation which he has used

working with children and other young people on a voluntary basis at the Brownlee Centre,

Leeds, where he is utilising Coach led racing activities. He has coached young riders to success and managed regional teams at National series events and tours, both home and abroad. He has also coached senior athletes to National championship wins on the track, time trials, road racing and triathlon.

For the past 32 years, Simon was employed as a Police officer with the last 10 years as

a Senior Detective working in Organised and major crime, a role from which he has now retired and is full time coaching looking

towards academic accreditation in biology and sports science.

Having worked within large organisations and understanding that time can be limited for

training, as well as having children, Simon can get the best out of individuals who find themselves in these circumstances,

having done it successfully himself under Matt for many years.
