Team Bottrill- Vanguard Women March Race Roundup

After all the truly unpleasant weather over the winter the ladies of Team Bottrill – Vanguard kicked the season off in style on the weekend of 24th March.

Triathlete Parris Williams achieved a new 5km PB in a parkrun event with an impressive 20:45. Parris was really pleased with this and said its gave her confidence going into her first sprint tri of the season in a few weeks.

Steph Post came 2nd in the Ajax 10 on a lumpy Welsh course. She missed out on first place by 3 seconds to the under 18 national champ. As if coming second wasn’t achievement enough, Steph also ‘got air’ after hitting a pot hole on the course and somehow managed to stay on the bike. Result!

Sarah Senderski and Steph Russel raced on the sporting Coalville Wheelers 10 mile TT. Sarah was 3rd lady and Stephanie Russel achieved a power PB and was only 40 seconds off her all time PB, which is on a flat course. Looking good for the season ahead Sarah and Steph!

Debbie Bradley won the Battle Field Duathlon, her first in 7 months.

Wendy Gooding had a strong ride in the Wisbech Wheelers 10, despite her chain coming off on start line she still got round the course 1 minute 21 seconds faster that in the same event last year.

There were further strong rides over the Easter Weekend, with Karina Bowie taking 1st Lady and 3rd overall in a road race in Guernsey. This was her final prep race before heading off to the Commonwealth Games, good Karina from all the team!

Stephanie Post bagged 3rd place on ‘The Bank’, one of the fastest 25 mile TT courses in the country. Steph was up against some strong opposition again, with the junior national champ again taking the win.

Karen Ledger and Debbie Bradley competed in the City Road Club 10, it was Karen’s first race of the season and she took the win with Debbie Bradley 4th. Great results from both riders.

Sarah Senderski had another strong ride in a Norfolk 10 where she smashed her course PB by nearly 2 minutes and came 6th out of a strong field of 39 ladies.

Finally, there was a team ride led by Matt followed by tea and cake, which was well deserved by all after such a strong start to the season. Well done all!
